Wooli Public School is situated on the New South Wales North Coast on the traditional land of the Yaegil people. Wooli is a small coastal school nestled into the dunes. Families need to travel to Grafton for most services.
The school has a permanent teaching staff of 3 and currently caters for 64 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Students come to school from homes based in the townships of Wooli, Minnie Water and Pillar Valley and from rural holdings in the surrounding shire. Approximately 16% of the students identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.
The school plays an active role in the community and supports local community initiatives. TheParents and Citizens Association is very pro–active in supporting the students of the school. The Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) is a school level measure of relative socio–economic disadvantage developed specifically for NSW government school. The FOEI is based on students' parental background information provided on enrolment forms. The 2016/2017 average FOEI value for Wooli school is 112 compared to the NSW average of 100.
Wooli Public School aims to develop its students academically, socially, physically and emotionally in a safe caring environment. We will prepare students to approach challenges confidently including the transition to High School and develop in our students a strong sense of co-operation, tolerance, mutual respect and an appreciation of individual differences. Wooli Public School is acknowledged for providing sound development for its students in literacy and numeracy. Special programs such as Dune Care and the Tummy Warmers cooking are well established.
